Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend) – for a juicy patty
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, for cooking

For the Toppings:

  • 4 slices cheddar cheese or your preferred cheese
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup lettuce leaves
  • Pickles, optional

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp pickle juice

For Assembly:

  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • Butter, for toasting buns

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Patties:

  • Mix the seasoning: In a bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently without overworking the meat.
  • Form the patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 1 inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Patties:

  • Heat the skillet: Add olive oil to a large skillet or grill pan and heat over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the patties: Sear the patties for 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip and add a slice of cheese to each patty, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.
  • Rest the patties: Remove from the skillet and let rest for 2 minutes.

Make the Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, and pickle juice until smooth. Set aside.

Toast the Buns:

  • Spread butter on the cut sides of the burger buns.
  • Toast on a hot skillet or grill until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers:

  • Spread the sauce: Add a generous layer of sauce to the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  • Layer the toppings: Add lettuce, tomato slices, and onions.
  • Add the patty: Place the cheesy beef patty on top.
  • Finish with the bun: Top with the other half of the bun and secure with a skewer if needed.

Serve:

  1. Serve immediately with fries, onion rings, or a fresh salad on the side.
