Gordon Ramsay Green Beans – Crisp, Garlicky & Perfectly Sautéed

Gordon Ramsay Green Beans recipe

Gordon Ramsay’s Green Beans are lightly blanched, then sautéed in butter, garlic, and fresh herbs, creating a perfect balance of crispness and flavor. Finished with lemon juice or toasted almonds, these beans are bright, fresh, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh green beans (trimmed)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp toasted almonds or Parmesan cheese (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Blanch the Green Beans:

  1. Boil water and salt – Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Blanch for 2-3 minutes – Add the green beans and cook until bright green and slightly tender.
  3. Drain and shock in ice water – This stops cooking and preserves the color.

Sauté the Green Beans:

  1. Heat olive oil and butter – In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter with olive oil.
  2. Add garlic and sauté – Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Toss in the green beans – Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly crispy.
  4. Season and finish – Add salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and lemon juice, then toss to coat.

Serve Immediately:

  1. Plate and garnish – Sprinkle with toasted almonds or Parmesan cheese, if desired.
