Gordon Ramsay Herb Butter For Turkey

Gordon Ramsay’s Herb Butter for Turkey is a flavored butter mixture made with softened butter, fresh herbs, garlic, and lemon zest. It’s rubbed under and over the turkey skin before roasting, ensuring deep flavor, crispy golden skin, and juicy meat. This simple but essential recipe transforms any roasted turkey into a gourmet dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

Prepare the Herb Butter:

  1. Soften the butter – Let unsalted butter sit at room temperature until soft.
  2. Mix the ingredients – In a bowl, combine butter, garlic, rosemary, thyme, parsley, Dijon mustard, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully blended.

Apply the Herb Butter to the Turkey:

  1. Loosen the turkey skin – Gently slide your fingers under the turkey skin to separate it from the meat.
  2. Spread butter under the skin – Rub half of the herb butter under the skin, ensuring it covers the breast and thighs.
  3. Coat the outside – Spread the remaining butter all over the turkey skin for extra crispiness and flavor.
  4. Let the butter marinate – If possible, refrigerate the turkey for 1-2 hours before roasting for deeper flavor.
