Gordon Ramsay’s Omelette is a French-style omelette that is soft, slightly runny inside, and folded without browning. The technique involves low heat, continuous stirring, and gentle folding to achieve a light, custard-like texture.

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp heavy cream (optional, for extra richness)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives or parsley (optional)

For Optional Fillings:

 

  • Grated cheese (cheddar, Gruyère, or Parmesan)
  • Sautéed mushrooms or onions
  • Diced ham or smoked salmon
  • Spinach or tomatoes

Instructions

Prepare the Eggs:

  1. Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk lightly (do not overbeat).
  2. Add a pinch of salt and black pepper – Enhances the flavor.

Cook the Omelette:

  1. Heat a nonstick pan over medium-low heat.
  2. Melt the butter and pour in the eggs.
  3. Stir constantly with a spatula, moving the eggs around gently while shaking the pan.
  4. Once eggs begin to set, stop stirring and let them cook for a few seconds.

Fold and Serve:

  1. Gently fold the omelette in half or into thirds.
  2. Slide onto a plate and top with fresh herbs.

Serve Immediately:

 

  1. Enjoy warm with toast, salad, or smoked salmon.
