Gordon Ramsay’s Sausage Rice is a one-pan dish where juicy sausages are browned and then combined with rice, bell peppers, onions, and spices. The rice is simmered in stock and tomatoes, absorbing all the rich flavors for a satisfying meal.

For the Sausage Rice

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 sausages (spicy or smoked, sliced)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 cup long-grain rice (Basmati or Jasmine)
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1 small tomato, diced
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For Garnish & Serving

  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges (for added freshness)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Sausages

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced sausages and cook for 5 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

Step 2: Sauté the Vegetables

  1. In the same pan, sauté onions and bell peppers for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add garlic, smoked paprika, and chili flakes and cook for 1 minute.

Step 3: Cook the Rice

  1. Stir in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce, mixing well.
  2. Add rice and diced tomato, stirring to coat the grains.
  3. Pour in chicken stock and season with salt and black pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
  5. Simmer for 15 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.

Step 4: Finish and Serve

  1. Return the cooked sausages to the pan and mix gently.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges.
