Gordon Ramsay Tuna Cakes recipe

Gordon Ramsay’s Tuna Cakes are savory patties made with flaked tuna, breadcrumbs, eggs, and seasonings, then pan-seared until golden brown. The combination of fresh herbs, Dijon mustard, and lemon zest creates a flavorful and crispy seafood dish that pairs well with a variety of sides and sauces.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained (preferably packed in water)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

Instructions

Prepare the Tuna Mixture:

  1. Drain the tuna well – Press out excess liquid to prevent soggy cakes.
  2. Mix ingredients – In a large bowl, combine tuna, breadcrumbs, egg, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, lemon juice, lemon zest, green onions, parsley, garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  3. Shape into patties – Form into 4 equal-sized cakes, about ½ inch thick.

Pan-Sear the Tuna Cakes:

  1. Heat oil in a pan – Warm 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Cook until golden brown – Place the tuna cakes in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until crispy and heated through.

Serve and Enjoy:

  1. Drain on paper towels – Removes excess oil while keeping them crispy.
  2. Garnish and serve – Serve with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce.
