  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 can (10 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 package (32 oz) frozen tater tots

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • Brown the beef – In a skillet, heat olive oil, add ground beef, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

  • Add aromatics – Stir in onion and garlic, sautéing until soft and fragrant.

  • Prepare the sauce – Add cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.

  • Add cheese and mix – Stir in half the shredded cheddar for extra creaminess.

  • Layer the casserole – In a greased baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly across the bottom.

  • Add tater tots – Arrange tater tots neatly on top in a single layer.

  • Top with cheese – Sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese over the tater tots.

  • Bake to perfection – Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 35–40 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.

  • Cool and serve – Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
