For the Crumble Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup rolled oats (optional, for extra crunch)

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Vanilla ice cream or custard
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Prepare the Apple Filling:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  3. Transfer apples to a greased baking dish, spreading evenly.

Make the Crumble Topping:

  1. In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. Rub in the cold butter using your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in oats (if using) for extra crunch.

Assemble and Bake:

  1. Sprinkle crumble topping over apples evenly.
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
